About ZaFlip
The marketplace for South African domain names
ZaFlip is a marketplace exclusively for South African domain names. We launched in 2026 because the big
international marketplaces (Afternic, Sedo, Dan) have thin coverage of .za and no built-in
South African payment rails. Buying or selling a decent .co.za on those platforms is painful
for everyone involved.
What we do differently
- South African domains only.
.co.za,.org.za,.net.za,.za, plus matching.com,.siteand.onlinewhen sellers list them as bundles. - Ownership is verified. Every seller proves control of a domain via a DNS TXT token before the listing goes live. No listings of names you don't actually own.
- Local payments. Buyers pay through PayFast, which supports South African cards, EFT, SnapScan and more. No PayPal / USD friction for a local deal.
- Flat 10% commission on sale. No listing fees, no upfront charges, no featured-listing upsells. If your domain never sells, you never pay us.
- Direct registrar transfer. ZaFlip never custodies a domain. After payment, the seller pushes the domain to the buyer's registrar account the normal way.
Who runs it
ZaFlip is operated by AquaSoft, a one-person software studio based in Stellenbosch, run by Werner Swanepoel. Werner has been writing software professionally since 2004 and running SA-registered domains since 2011. ZaFlip exists because he kept running into the exact problems the site now solves.
Technical stack: ASP.NET Core 9 on Azure App Service in the South Africa North datacenter, Azure SQL for the database, GitHub for source control, PayFast for payments. The whole marketplace runs on South African infrastructure, as it should.
What's next
We're growing listings carefully rather than quickly. The focus is on brandable, memorable names across the SA TLD set, often sold as bundles so buyers can grab a brand's full cluster in one go. Weekly email alerts for new listings are available via the alerts page.
